| Arlo J. Wiley | 02-13-2005 04:58 [E,W] | | One of the absolute best, most creative poster designs I've ever seen. I love the 'stitched-on' image, and the ironic value that it adds to the tagline. Great poster. A+ | | Derrick | 04-14-2005 11:59 [E,W] | | I've always loved this poster. I remember when the movie was halfway through its run they pulled this poster and the logo and changed it to that plain block font. I had always assumed it was becasue the logo on this poster was too similar to the one for 'Fame'. Does anyone else know anything about that? | | Eric Kintler | 03-08-2007 21:35 [E,W] | | As one of the poster's three art directors (Eric Kintler, Karen Swann and John Waxel), I can say with some conviction that the poster was pulled because the distributor (Gramercy Pictures) thought the poster was too arty and they wanted what they thought was a more mainstream, accessible look. That said, it was the vision and conviction of the studio's creative director, Samantha Hart that sold this idea to the Coen Bros. and got this poster into the theaters. Armageddon Design and Advertising won best comedy poster of the year at The Hollywood Reporter's annual keyart award competition. |
