Bravest Poster Nominees of 2000

So you've just hired about $60 million worth of talent - the biggest names in Hollywood - for your big blockbuster and someone down in the poster department decides that the best ad campaign doesn't show a simgle bankable face. Wonderful. Might not be the smartest idea money-wise, but you've got to admit, it's mighty brave. Typically, you'll only find such bravery in teasers, when it is half expected to be somewhat vague in your marketing of the film. Just as typically, these posters are quickly replaced with ones that better demonstrate the film's star power. But occasionally, one of these more subtle posters will actually stick. This year's nominees for bravest poster are...

The Contender
Missing faces: Jeff Bridges, Gary Oldman, Christian Slater, and Joan Allen (sort of).
Duets
Missing faces: Gwyneth Paltrow, Andre Bruagher, Huey Lewis.
Mission to Mars
Missing faces: Tim Robbins, Gary Sinise, Jerry O'Connell.
U-571

What Lies Beneath
