Funniest Poster Nominees of 2000

This year was a pretty dry one as far as humorous movie posters go. Once again, far too many posters forget the golden rule for comedies: if the movie is funny, the poster should make you laugh as well. Maybe one of the problems this year was that there just weren't a lot of comedies. Anyway, although the playing field is much smaller, there are still a few gems amongst the bunch. Here are the nominees...

Chicken Run
With the geeky looks on all those chickens, it's hard not to come up with a funny poster for this film. Add to that a whole series of different posters with bad puns like "poultry in motion", and "escape or die frying", and you've got a hilarious ad campaign. The "a few good hen" poster is our favorite pick of the bunch.
The Emperor's New Groove
Who can't look at that face and smirk a little. True, once you realize that it's the voice of David Spade behind that face, you may be frightened away, but the poster is pretty funny, especially with the "It's all about... ME" tag line.
Me, Myself & Irene
Jim Carrey has a split personality and a split face. The combination of his two very different expressions really gives you an idea of what kind of characters he'll be playing in this comedy.
Miss Congeniality
Sandra Bullock as an undercover beauty queen. Your fondness for the star may determine just how funny you think this poster is. Certainly sums up the plot with a single image.
My Dog Skip
Points for simplicity here. Nothing but a cute little dog looking at a toilet. But we all know what happens when dogs and toilets get together. This is far better than actually showing the dog taking a nice long drink.

and the winner is...
