Best Overall Poster Nominees of 2005

So many great posters this year. Very tough to narrow it down to just five posters. But here are the IMP's picks...

Crash

Although it is pretty much just an image taken directly from the film, it is such an emotionally charged image that it tears at your heart. Beautiful and incredibly powerful at the same time.
House of Wax

A rare case where a poster can be creepy and beautiful at the same time. The dark hollow of her eye and the melting wax create a wonderful effect.
Lord of War

A true original. From a distance you wonder why Nicolas Cage's face looks so unusual. Then when you get closer you realize that every part of him, from his shirt collar to the pupils of his eyes are made up of bullets and empty shell casings. He is nothing but a garbage dumb for ammo. An amazing poster.
Munich

Another perfect example of a simple image that speaks volumes. Although slightly reminiscent of last year's Collateral, this image tells a whole different tale. A lonely man in a hotel room looking down at his gun. Waiting and already regretting what he must do next. Quite beautiful.
Walk the Line

A very daring design for a modern-day movie poster. But more than that, it is a very beautiful and memorable image.

Runners-up include: Brokeback Mountain, Everything is Illuminated, A Good Woman, A History of Violence, Jarhead, Little Manhattan, and North Country.

and the winner is...
