A lot of indie posters seem to be following this similar trend of late, not a bad thing just overused. Reminds me of the posters for 'Brick'. Could be represented by Molly Shannon feeling like the only real person in her world.

Reminds me of the opening title sequence from ''Juno'', and thus I hate it. Too precious, too faux ''indie''.

Jason, it has nothing to do with color or drawing style, otherwise that would be just a blatant rip-off. The concept is a photographic image in an illustration to show that it doesn't belong, or a ''fish-out-of-water'' feeling. That was the point I was making. It was done before, therefore not an original idea. It’s been in AMERICAN SPLENDOR, YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS, SECRETARY and THE
SQUID AND THE WHALE. It’s not about drawing style. It’s about concept.

It's OBVIOUS someone does not know enough about illustration if one is going to compare this to the Squid and the Whale. First of all, it's in color, and in a completey different drawing style. Not every illustrated poster with a photo real image is the Squid in the Whale.

Not too sure it's genius. It's a style that's been done in AMERICAN SPLENDOR and THE SQUID AND THE WHALE. And to a certain extent, YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS and SECRETARY. It looks good... I guess that's good enough.

There's only one thing I can say about this fresh and interesting piece of work...Genius level.
