Dark and gritty just like the majority of what the wrestling business is really like and stepping away from the glitz and glamour of what WWE seems to portray.
A man on the ropes literally here and trying to fight his way back to reclaim a bit of stardom and his life.
It's an emotional and grtitty film and the poster captures that perfectly.

This is a curious one. Gritty, well lit and atmospheric, undoubtably we're looking at a shot of a character, yet between the lines (or perhaps printed right over the top) we're looking at a comeback performance from a beaten-up actor, which only serves to heighten our 'whats he look like/done now?' interest which in-turn brings us back to the movie.

I personally think it's nice and sutile.

I disagree wholeheartedly. The poster captures the essence of the character, and the film, precisely.
