2009 Internet Movie Poster Awards - Bravest Nominees
Knowing
One would expect to see Nicolas Cage's face taking up 3/4 of the poster but he is nowhere to be found on the US one sheet.
Lovely Bones
No images of Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon, or Rachel Weisz. They don't even casually mention that this film is by the director of King Kong and The Lord of the Rings.
Star Trek
When marketing such a well known franchise as the Star Trek films, one does not need to focus on star power. However, using such an obscure and potentially confusing image for the final poster is very brave indeed.
2012
Lots of recognizable faces in the cast, but someone decided that showing the end of the world might be a bit more of a selling point.
Up in the Air
Sure, George Clooney is on the poster, but this is definitely not a design trying to cash in on his famous image.
I loved Star Trek, but let's face it: The Starship Enterprise is the star of the series, so it's not that brave. Instantly recognizable. So I pick Up in the Air. Great poster!
definitely Star Trek. Never seen anything like this before. Very conceptual and artistic. Ballsy move to get artistic when advertising a blockbuster action movie.
If the list just go for Bravest but not meant to be awesome artworks, then I'll choose The Lovely Bones.
But Brave and Awesome, I'll choose Up In The Air.
I love the 2012 poster but don't see it as that brave (not to mention Emmerich has done it with all his posters). I'd have to go for Up The Air as well.
this one should go with Star Trek.
Yes, as someone mentioned, is the Enterprise, but not a very sharp image of it. Is very artistic, and we are talking of the rebooting of a franchise here, so is very brave indeed.
