nikki17 i agree. it looks very oil-painting like, very corporate-looking poster. works for the movie, i guess.
bev oil painting? more like cheesy oil painting photoshop filter. from an artistic standpoint, there's no commitment. if you're going to do an oil painting then it should have the feel and the vibe, not just some lame texture that you have to argue ''looks better close up''.
Jack E. Moore III Still wondering when they are going to put out the poster that goes with the FF7 Sephiroth battle chanting music on the trailers. An oil painting doesn't quite convey that inappropriate sound track.
technique you people minus a few are missing the point of this poster, all CEO's or higher ups at companies have these type of paintings in their office because it is about ego for them. It is also supposed to reflect a transition of power from Douglas to LaBeouf's character. The one person had it right that it looks wayyyy better in person because it is rendered as an oil painting. If you enlarge it here you can see the detail but not as much when you see it in a lightbox. Just saying....plus it is considered a teaser poster anyway
I saw poster up close It looks even worse in person. Comparing it to a Sears portrait is an insult to Sears.
nisa i agree with vader. I think it looks nice and simple. I don't think any imagery of the actual ''wall street'' would be good coz the story is about the people, not the place. I want to see it in person, if it is done in the oil painting style, then that's actually kind of a cool idea, even though it might not translate well as a digital image
Stephanie I am so glad these two made it down to Sears to get a family picture done. How boring.
cabby Here Here vaderules!
copter95 This poster actually looks way better in person.
emcee - vaderules: either you work for Gravillis or simply have given up. Although you might think you bring up valid points, they are not excuses for mediocrity. Settling for uninspired design only serves to undermine what most artists (yes, there are some of us left in this industry) are and should be striving for. That is to elevate entertainment design standards while still being able market a movie successfully.
vaderules There may not be a more insufferable group of whiners on the internet than the people on this site. Not EVERY poster needs to be a ground-breaking work of art. They have a job to do as well - inform the viewer visually who the characters are, what the title is, and give a general hint of the story. This poster does that. Everybody here needs to calm down a little.
Jørgen P I can't stand when the name titles are on the opposite side that the actors are on
Perry Poor. God, the first one was great. Looks like the boring BASIC INSTINCT 2.
javier c. douglas looks very old
nick it's uninspired
Fertobar Come on...wasn't it anything new to print? This is so Pacino/Reeves. :s
Matheu Rocha I am not so sure about Shia in this movie, and yes, too much like Devil movie.
Glenn A let down? What were you expecting? it's not like the original has such a brilliant poster. I do wonder though why, at least in America, they don't utilise the Wall Street imagery with that giant American flag and the pillars and such. Could make for something interesting.
Crystal Diane Stevens Why is Gena Rowlands standing behind Shia?
Distracting User Name Are they f*cking serious with this? This looks like someone's awful fan art. Douglas and LaBeouf look way too airbrushed, and the entire thing just reeks amateur.
vicmackey It's actually pretty classy -- you can't tell here, but the image is rendered as an oil painting, the type that would hang in a corporate boardroom or a mansion's sitting room
brownsville what a let down.
emcee reminds me of Devil's Advocate.
