meg May 21 11:33:11am I love this poster, but it would have been signifigantly more chilling if she was in night water. maybe replace the sun at the top with moonlight and the water is darker with the shark/girl popping even more. What would be more scary than being in the water at night with limited visibility and becoming aware of THAT. I do like it though.
Ezra's Huge Reviews Sep 02 07:46:27pm The movie takes place at night mostly so thats why it's called Shark Night. However, this is a bad poster because that shark looks unbelievably fake (same goes for the actual movie).
Garfield Sep 02 01:39:55am This better call "Shark Day."
hooray! Sep 01 09:02:29pm the mpaa is over they used to call this Woman in Danger.
Dentist Sep 01 03:42:20pm Damn, that shark uses some seriously good toothpaste.
Steve Aug 31 09:21:39pm ...so is it Shark NIGHT or Shark MORNING? :)

Sorry Robert, but neither the human face nor the shark maw were the first things my eye was drawn to on this poster. ;-)

Every shark movie poster gets compared to the iconic poster for Jaws. It's inevitable. This poster is one of the better ones I've seen. It's got a lot of dynamic energy with the shark angling in from the side and the girl frantically trying to get to the surface. Without a boat or a helping hand in sight, it's clear she isn't going to make it. I like that the proportions are realistic, with the shark not being comically bigger then the human victim - a classic mistake for most shark movie posters. Cropping the girl's face off at the mouth was a good decision. Humans are trained to look first at human faces and that would have distracted from the real focal point: the enormous maw of the shark about the bite the girl in half.
