When your movie has a big star you tend to want to sell their face on the poster. When your movie has a unique plot you want to focus on that instead. Unfortunately, some plots are hard to put in visual form and we end up getting a paragraph or two of text trying to explain everything. One can almost imagine the description for this film: "Calvin was having a hard time writing his new novel until he came up with the perfect character. A character so real she leapt off the page."
But who needs that when you can come up with an image to tell the same thing? This design tells us the unique plot in a glance with a memorable image of the title character coming out of a novel. Add in a great tagline and you have our pick for best comedy poster of the year.
