gris Jan 04 08:24:03pm nor does is take much thought to realize the studios, not the designers, make these decisions.
FastenTabHere Dec 10 06:42:53am It doesn't take much thought to at least suspect that the same designers did both this and 'The Dark Knight Rises' poster. It also doesn't take much thought to realize that it's still a travesty they're ripping themselves off so blatantly. They should just take another extra thirty seconds and find something more original.
Newb Dec 07 12:08:26pm Biggie hit it on the head. As soon as I saw this poster, I immediately knew who designed this poster. It is quite obvious. Just another case of the client asking "can we get a poster that looks like ______?" When that poster is one you designed, it's easier to copy.
Same again Dec 06 12:34:17am Ok no credit from BLT can only mean one thing - someone high up said they wanted a poster like the dark knight rises so they made an exception to BLT's paramount deal And went to ignition and they took it from there - so you can't really blame them for ripping themselves off any agency would have done it if asked, if that's not how it went down and BLT did do it then they are being honorable and not taking credit for an obviously Ripped off concept - all's fair in key art and war!
Biggie Dec 05 08:17:27pm It's okay to self plagiarize (from the same agency who brought you The Dark Knight Rises.) If you don't know, now you know...
Same same Dec 04 06:55:40pm The real question is why even do a logo out of rubble when batman and expendables both did it- its paramount so I'm sure BLT was forced to do this - but no credit yet from them, hmm....
leon Dec 04 04:04:26pm even people on the outside can see this thing is a rip-off. who's the agency that's gonna come forward and claim responsibility for this debacle? link
Zero Gee Dec 04 03:04:04pm How utterly lacking in style, elegance and originality. I wanted to believe this was fan-made. No such luck. Let's hope the film tries harder than the poster.
VincentVendetta Dec 04 02:49:35pm Hey I didn't know they made a poster for Mass Effect 3!
JFK Dec 04 01:12:21pm "The reason I am now posting a comment on this website is because I feel so strongly that this is such a BLATANT RIP-OFF of 'The Dark Knight Rises' teaser poster that I had to say something about it. Anyone who doesn't agree with me must not be looking at the same poster. Whoever designed this should be ashamed of themselves." - I don't think its a rip-off if both were designed at the same firm. Do your research before you flip out. This poster kicks ass. Just jealous art directors stuck at boring agencies.
Andy Dec 04 09:54:48am London? Or possibly just a tribute because the artist was British? Lol, either way, I quite like this. It's not original, but it's better than this sort of thing usually is. Any similarities to the Dark Knight or Expendables 2 are superficial and people have been designing in logos out of large Scale destruction since long before either of those two movies. And frankly, anyone who genuinely believes that this is purposely ripped from the Expendables 2 poster needs to get some distance.
Bald Guy Dec 04 09:43:00am It's a little ironic that so many people complaining about the lack of originality are just making the same comment that two dozen others have already made. I guess poster designers should never-ever reuse or reinterpret a concept, but its okay for commenters to post the exact same observation over and over and over again. By the way, this looks a lot like the Dark Knight Rises Poster.
Cerberus64 Dec 04 04:45:42am No one seems to have mentioned that the city is probably London as I've spotted The Gherkin, The London Eye and St Paul's Cathedral in the skyline.
Sid Dec 04 12:18:36am Just awesome
Ryan Dec 03 11:50:30pm Didn't anybody look closely? That's not a random city; It's London. So we're getting a hint at a location. Also, that isn't Kirk. It's Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain.
isaac Dec 03 10:27:16pm I actually think it's not bad, but "Into Darkness" is rather a lame title.
Dr. Zoid Dec 03 09:55:56pm It obviously is similar to other posters like The Dark Knight Rises and The Expendables, but I do like the vibe they are going for here.
enzo Dec 03 08:51:18pm where have i seen this before…
Scary Dec 03 07:26:16pm Ooooooh Star Trek is sooooo dark and brooding (and expendable). This poster theme is getting old.
munsoned Dec 03 06:47:20pm i feel like i've seen this poster a hundred times...
MRevel Dec 03 05:32:15pm Closer to Expendables 2 than Dark Knight Rises, but overall it's a good teaser.
Recycle Dec 03 04:22:12pm DARK KNIGHT: INTO EXPENDABLES
Color Dec 03 04:18:46pm link Atleast do a different color scheme
bonez jonez Dec 03 02:53:16pm Star Trek: Into Dark Knight Rises
Sahin Dec 03 02:30:53pm nice concept! simple and effective!
Cancervalley Dec 03 02:24:34pm Really? The Dark Kirk Rises
fart director Dec 03 02:21:38pm Stark Knight? link
Rick Dec 03 02:18:53pm Instantly thought of the Dark Knight Rises Posters, but I'm ok with it. Much more intersting than your normal containing device and I feel like only fans and designers would even notice it right away.
Leonard Dec 03 01:59:16pm Looks nice. Borrowing inspiration from the Expendables 2 teaser?
nate Dec 03 02:00:51pm link
nate Dec 03 01:57:39pm Expendables called, they want their concept back...
Kris Dec 03 01:59:25pm Couldn't be more generic. Dark Knight anyone?
arslan. Dec 03 01:53:46pm Dark knight rises poster + expendables 2 poster = THIS poster
Jordan Dec 03 01:37:50pm This looks like the son of the teaser poster to The Dark Knight Rises.
FunkY Monkey Dec 03 01:33:43pm Reminds me of THE EXPENDABLES 2 teaser poster... But I'm a sucker for Star Trek, sooooooo...WiN! *thumbs up*
Nooks Dec 03 12:53:49pm Can't believe they went with this? Is this really the poster?
what Dec 03 01:24:55pm expendables 2.5
DanielThePhantasm19 Dec 03 01:13:10pm mysterious but plain
teddy Dec 03 01:19:03pm Im tired of this kind of poster. Looks like dark knight again. would expect much better of people who made first one. poster for first movie so simple.
Bill Dec 03 01:20:56pm Nice
BabyJames Dec 03 01:15:54pm Cool. The Dark Trek Rises.
Clark Bran Dec 03 01:10:00pm Definitely too much like Batman (plus Expendables), but at least its unexpected for a Trek film.
The Dark Superman Dec 03 01:07:03pm Why is there a cape for Star Trek? It's not a superhero movie
Tom Dec 03 01:02:45pm good lord it's fucking beautiful
. Dec 03 12:50:16pm WOW THIS IS LAME. LOOKS LIKE RECYCLED ART FROM THE EXPENDABLES AND DARK KNIGHT RISES. D-
David Dec 03 12:39:51pm This poster is weak, why is he wearing a leather jacket and looking out over the city? Does star trek not take place in space anymore. Also I'm pretty sure the figure standing in the middle of the movie highly familiar symbol has been done before.
Disappointed Dec 03 12:48:24pm link Man, I am so sick of studios ripping off other studios art. How disappointing. I really thought JJ Abrams had a decent creative eye for his key art. This is lame. Also those buildings look fake. Paramount fail.
trekker Dec 03 12:49:02pm Ummm.....Dark Knight anyone?
Dave Dec 03 12:47:42pm Love how it's the same exact rebar and debris from Expendables!!!
Jayme Dec 03 12:44:21pm Totally looks fake, are they trying to do something similar to the Dark Night poster?
jooks Dec 03 12:44:50pm Batman meets Inception with a light dashing of Transformers-esq type. nice :)
1111 Dec 03 12:43:27pm just like dark knight and expendables 2 but still GOOD! and font is from transformers right?
FilmCritic Dec 03 12:05:27pm I think we found the new generic action template. Sparks+Debris+little guy+cutout+desaturated palette hole=rehash.
MovieGUy01 Dec 03 12:03:24pm So I see paramount has decided to rip off warner brothers TDKR teaser. Does that guy have a robot hand?
Garfield Dec 03 11:55:59am link link
john Dec 03 11:49:07am link anyone?? Dark knight rises teaser poster...
tommyt Dec 03 10:53:57am NICE.
Justin Dec 03 10:40:32am I know some people are sick of the "find the logo" type of posters but personally I love them. This one is a bit more subtle and really works. It doesn't look forced, it comes off very natural. On the other hand, if it wasn't for the title of the movie, this poster doesn't really come off as a Star Trek movie.
Cal Dec 03 10:35:51am I love the outline of the Federation logo and Sherlock being all badass. Khan?!
FastenTabHere Dec 03 10:34:06am I don't post comments on this website, though I do read them. The reason I am now posting a comment on this website is because I feel so strongly that this is such a BLATANT RIP-OFF of 'The Dark Knight Rises' teaser poster that I had to say something about it. Anyone who doesn't agree with me must not be looking at the same poster. Whoever designed this should be ashamed of themselves.
Tom Jones Dec 03 10:28:02am Dope design. A+
GC Dec 03 10:22:30am All everyone is going to talk about is how much this looks like Batman. Sure, it does. But this poster makes more sense that the TDKR poster because here at least the hole in the wall and the rubble, while forming the Trek symbol, also form a realistic shape of a hole in the wall. This makes the Trek symbol less obvious and more of an easter egg/tease. There's no way any destruction could ever look like the Batman symbol. That's just too in your face.
Shannon Dec 03 09:50:43am Cool Poster, but... Star Trek Into... Post-apocalyptic?
Nawaz Alamgir Dec 03 09:56:42am Can anyone say Dark Knight Rises?
