Moonlight's poster is an all-time classic, a simple distillation of the film into one memorable image. The three-tone colour scheme reflects the thematic meaning of moonlight in the film, and the three-part, broken up image of Chiron forming one complete whole describes perfectly Chiron's characterization in the film. La La Land's poster does something similar, taking one moment from the film and building a memorable image around it, from the implication of movement to the melancholy lavender-hues. I fell in love with this poster, and then I fell in love with La La Land. This is an amazing image. We used to be human, but now that the internet has taken over, we are reduced to a thrumming, tangled hive of wires and cables. Brilliant poster for a good Herzog film. The brain-like image is perhaps a reflection of our own minds being blown. I thought High-Rise was a fascinating film, if I didn't necessarily like it. But this poster is great. It contrasts the extremes of luxury with the sadness behind the mask of wealth. The high-rise stretches high in the reflection of the car, which also reveals a man falling. Pushed out a window or... jumped? Either way, this poster starkly shows us that behind the sheen of wealth, something sinister lurks. I haven't seen Jackie yet, but this poster makes me want to see it more. It's elegant, sophisticated, and it stands out with its strong, passionate red colour scheme. Natalie Portman suggests the contradictions of Jackie Kennedy in one image, public but highly reserved. And the signature-as-title is a brilliant touch to cap it off.
