[Dec 31, 2005 1:55am]
With 2005 drawing to a close it's time to look back over the past twelve
months and determine the best and worst posters of the year that was. The
nominees will be announced on Monday, January 9th. Until then, why not
give us your opinions and check out others in the IMP
Forums.
Goal!
[Dec 27, 2005 2:55pm]
From moviesonline.ca
and CountingDown.com
comes the poster for Goal! which shows the special relationship
between a player and his soccer ball. A little reminiscent of the special
relationship between a jockey and
his race horse. [Thanks to 'pimpjoe'
for the heads up on the poster.]
Benchwarmers, Failure to Launch
[Dec 21, 2005 10:55pm]
From eBay
we have two new low quality poster images. First there is The Benchwarmers
starring Rob Schneider, David Spade, and Jon Heder. Secondly, we have what
has to be one of the worst titles ever for an apparent romantic comedy
- Failure to Launch - starring Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica
Parker. Finally, from EstoEsCine,
we have a rather funny French poster for Rumor Has It, spoofing
The
Graduate.
When a Stranger Calls, The Other Side, Int'l Posters
[Dec 21, 2005 7:00pm]
From Bloody-Disgusting.com
comes the poster for the remake of When a Stranger Calls. Surely
they can up with a creepier image than that. Just seems a bit too run of
the mill. From the official
site comes the poster for The Other Side. From Cinempire.com
comes a Spanish poster for Mrs. Henderson Presents. [Thanks
to Luis for the heads up.] Finally, from movieposterdb
comes a German poster for North Country.
Click, Tsotsi, Tamara, and More
[Dec 20, 2005 7:00pm]
From eBay
we have a low quality first look at the poster for Adam Sandler's Click.
From CountingDown.com
comes the poster for Tsotsi. [Thanks
to 'pimpjoe' for the heads up.] Thanks to Luis for passing
along the poster for Tamara. From MovieZine.se
comes a Swedish poster for The Pink Panther. Finally, from NarniaWeb
comes a French poster for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
[Thanks
to Rafael for the heads up.]
Three Scary Movie 4 Posters
[Dec 19, 2005 1:15am]
Just like for the Scary
Movie 3 release, the studio has come out with three great advance
posters for Scary Movie 4 which spoof other movie posters. Check
out the new posters as well as the originals. [Source:
The
Weinstein Company] NOTE: These posters originally debuted
on the site last Wednesday but we were asked to remove them until after
the weekend.
Date Movie, Int'l Geisha,
More Hills Have Eyes
[Dec 15, 2005 7:15pm]
From LatinoReviewcomes
the poster for Date Movie. Love the line saying it is written by
two of the six writers of Scary Movie. [Thanks
to Mike Markus and Kevin for the heads up.] Also, thanks
to Reel Deals we
have a look at an international poster for Memoirs of a Geisha.
Finally, if you want to see some unused poster designs for the remake
of The Hills Have Eyes, head on over to Fangoria.
[Thanks
to 'pimpjoe' for the heads up.]
Oh, and for everyone who is wondering what happened to the hilarious
spoof posters for Scary Movie 4, they will return on Monday.
Hills Have Eyes / Dick & Jane
[Dec 15, 2005 7:15pm]
From Fangoria
comes the first poster for The Hills Have Eyes and from ComingSoon.net
comes the second poster for Fun With Dick & Jane. [Thanks
to 'pimpjoe' for the heads up.]
Over the Hedge
[Dec 15, 2005 2:25pm]
From Animated
News comes the poster for the Dreamworks animated film Over the
Hedge. [Thanks to Mike Markus for
the heads up.]
Firewall and Breakfast
[Dec 15, 2005 1:15pm]
From IGN FilmForce
comes the one sheet for the new Harrison Ford film Firewall. [Thanks
to Mike Markus for the heads up.] Ford's hairdo make his
head look a little too square, but the poster does do a good job of capturing
the emotion of a family in jeopardy. Also, we have the UK quad for the
Neil Jordan film Breakfast on Pluto designed by Cosmonaut
Design for Pathé Productions.
Lady, Vice, and Something New
[Dec 14, 2005 10:40pm]
From ComingSoon.net
we have the wonderful poster for M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water.
[Thanks
to Mike Markus, Jon, and EZ1
Productions for the heads up.]
Also, from movieposterdb
comes the new Miami Vice poster starring Colin Farrell and Jamie
Foxx as well as the poster for Something New. The Vice poster
may not quite be the final draft considering the names of the two stars
are nowhere to be seen.
Another Cheaper by the Dozen
[Dec 14, 2005 2:00pm]
From LatinoReview
comes another Cheaper by the Dozen 2 poster. Pretty well the same
as the advance poster but with the addition of Eugene Levy and the dog
wearing the santa hat. Seems like a lame attempt to cash in on the season.
[Thanks
to pimpjoe for the heads up.]
Imagine Me & You
[Dec 13, 2005 3:00pm]
From Apple
Movie Trailers comes a small but rather cute poster for Imagine
Me & You starring Piper Perabo. (Now I've got the song "Happy Together"
stuck in my head...)
Another Stone and a Pink Quad
Dec 13, 2005 1:45pm]
From eBay
comes a low quality shot of the latest poster for The Family Stone.
Just a standard "let's show all the cast" poster. And they almost all seem
happy and friendly, which takes away any sarcasm from the "Feel the Love"
tagline. (And wasn't that same tagline used not that long ago for Anger
Management?) Also, from JoBlo
comes the UK quad for The Pink Panther remake.
An Italian Hostel
[Dec 12, 2005 1:25pm]
Things just keep getting nastier and nastier at the hostel. From diehostel.de
comes the bloody Italian poster for Hostel. Imagine trying to release
this poster in the U.S. If the MPAA got upset over the severed fingers
on the Saw II poster, they would really enjoy a severed head.
Better MI3, New Big Momma
[Dec 10, 2005 4:15pm]
Thanks to Mike Markus for passing along a better quality image for
the Mission: Impossible III poster as well as a second poster /
banner for Big Momma's House 2. Now that is one very scary momma!
Another Burial and Caché
[Dec 10, 2005 2:50pm]
From IONCINEMA comes the latest
poster for the Tommy Lee Jones directed The Three Burials of Melquiades
Estrada as well as the one sheet for Caché, starring
Daniel Auteuil and Juliette Binoche.
Int'l Get Rich and On the Outs
[Dec 10, 2005 2:10am]
From actuacine.net
comes the international poster for Get Rich or Die Tryin'. A microphone
in one hand, but where is the gun? Not tucked in his belt and not in his
hand. Perhaps it was removed thanks to the fuss over the billboards in
Los Angeles. Also, from movieposterdb
we have a couple posters for On the Outs.
Inside Man Poster
[Dec 8, 2005 12:10am]
From Apple
Movie Trailers comes a small poster for Spike Lee's latest film, Inside
Man, starring Clive Owen, Denzel Washington, and Jodie Foster. Now
here's a poster that takes diagonal billing to an extreme!
Silent Hill Poster Design Contest
[Dec 7, 2005 11:15pm]
Sony
Pictures has launched a contest for fans to design a poster for their
upcoming film Silent Hill. They provide the titles, credits, and
various artwork and you do the rest. Also check out posterwire.com
for their thoughts on such contests and information on a few other instances
where fans have had a say in the poster design.
Chinese Hostel, Lovelorn, and Kinky Boots
[Dec 7, 2005 10:15pm]
The creepy posters for Hostel just keep on coming. From diehostel.de
comes the Chinese poster, which seems to feature a game of musical chairs
gone horribly wrong. Also, from iconisus
comes their design for Lovelorn, Turkey's official entry for this
year's Oscars. (This specific version of the poster is for a special Golden
Globe nomination screening.) Finally, thanks to Chris for passing along
the teeny tiny poster image for the British film Kinky Boots, which
gets a U.S. release in the spring.
Fearless and Dirty
[Dec 6, 2005 9:55pm]
Thanks to movieposterdb
for passing along a couple posters for Jet Li's Fearless. (No, it
is not a remake of Peter Weir's
film from 1993.) Also, from blackfilm.com
comes what appears to be the artwork for the Cuba Gooding, Jr. film Dirty.
MI3 Advance Poster
[Dec 5, 2005 8:00pm]
It's a pretty lousy image, but thanks to Matt for the heads up on the
advance poster for Mission: Impossible III.
International Producers
[Dec 4, 2005 1:35pm]
From Reel Deals
comes a small look at the international poster for The Producers
starring Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane.
Madea's Family Reunion and Luc Besson's Latest
[Dec 3, 2005 2:05am]
Another new poster from Lions
Gate Films. This time it is the second poster for Madea's Family
Reunion and yet another very memorable design. Also, from actuacine.net
and Cinempire.com
comes a poster for Luc Besson's latest film Angel-A.
Another Hostel and Roving Mars
[Dec 2, 2005 1:15pm]
From Lions Gate Films
comes another very creepy looking poster for Hostel. That is one
very phallic chainsaw that masked man is holding! Also, thanks to Jon R.
for passing along the poster for the IMAX film Roving Mars as well
as a high quality scan of yesterday's new poster, Eight Below.
Eight Below
[Dec 1, 2005 4:45am]
From eBay
we have the new poster (and a rather poor quality one at the moment) for
Eight
Below starring Paul Walker, Bruce Greenwood, Jason Biggs, and eight
dogs. Just remember, it is a remake of the Japanese film Antarctica,
NOT a sequel to Snow Dogs.
